Update: The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the strike, according to state media. “Today at 3:25 a.m. Moscow time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a facility in the Bryansk region with six ATACMS ballistic missiles,” TASS cited the ministry as saying.

The Ukrainian military has carried out its first strike on Russian territory using U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles, RBC Ukraine has reported, citing a source from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the source, the strike targeted a military facility near the town of Karachev in Russia’s Bryansk region. “It was successfully hit,” he said.

Karachev is located about 130 kilometers (80 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported an attack on a weapons depot in the Bryansk region on Tuesday morning but did not specify the type of weapon used.

Karachev is located near the 67th arsenal of Russia's Main Missile and Artillery Directorate. The Russian Telegram channel Astra reported that locals in the area reported “explosions, detonations, and an attack on the military base” throughout the night on social media.

Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported only that Russia short down 13 drones in the region overnight and in the morning.
