Three locally transmitted coronavirus infections are reported in Russia, where the total case number has reached 63
Russia’s Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) has reportedly confirmed that three of the 14 new coronavirus infections recorded on March 14 were contracted within the country, according to a report by the news agency Interfax. Health officials previously confirmed Russia’s first locally transmitted COVID-19 case on Friday, March 13. Before this case, all confirmed coronavirus patients are believed to have contracted the disease while traveling abroad.
There’s some confusion about the March 14 data, however, as Rospotrebnadzor’s most recent press statements do not mention the three locally transmitted infections.
As of March 15, the Russian authorities confirmed another four new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, bringing Russia’s total case number to 63. According to official statistics, this patient population has included 60 Russian citizens, two Chinese nationals, and one Italian national.
