Navalny’s press secretary says his body not in morgue where prison claimed to send it
Alexey Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh said on Saturday that the politician’s body is not in the morgue where prison officials said it was sent. She wrote on 𝕏:
Alexey's lawyer and his mother have arrived at the Salekhard morgue. It's closed, however, the colony has assured them it's working and Navalny's body is there. The lawyer called the phone number which was on the door. He was told he was the seventh caller today. Alexey's body is not in the morgue.
Ivan Zhdanov, who heads Navalny’s anti-corruption organization, said the prison “deceived” Navalny’s family and supporters: “They said his body is in the Salekhard morgue. But the morgue says the body’s not there.”
Update: According to Astra, Navalny’s body is also not at the forensic medical examination bureau in Salekhard. When journalists called, the bureau said that they “haven’t taken in any bodies from prisons” and to contact Russia’s Investigative Committee.
